Karios Configuration on bare metal (server) side management network

I want to confirm if the static IP address to be included during the network configuration should be the same as my server’s assigned static IP address.

Hi Moh, welcome! Yes, the IP address you enter here will be assigned to this server as its management IP. The values currently shown (192.168.1.100, 192.168.1.1) are just example defaults - please replace them with your actual network details (the static IP you want this server to have, your real gateway, and the correct CIDR prefix for your subnet).

Thanks RamGopal please see my set up below and i need assistance. kindly check see my question below:

Network (CIDR): 192.168.9.0/24
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.9.1
DNS Server: 192.168.9.8
On-prem server IP(Static): 192.168.9.158
Karios setup: Do i need to assign a different static ip address to karios IP CONFIGURATION

Hi Moh,

No, you don’t need a different IP. You can use the same static IP that’s already assigned to your server. Based on your setup, enter the following values in the installer:

  • IP Address: 192.168.9.158

  • CIDR Prefix: /24

  • Gateway: 192.168.9.1

  • DNS Server: 192.168.9.8

The installer assigns this IP to the management interface, so it should be the IP you want to use to access the server after installation. Since 192.168.9.158 is already your server’s static IP, you’re good to use that.

Let us know if you run into any issues. Happy to jump on a call anytime that works for you

thanks.

i will keep you updated.

Hi, please i just want to confirm if it is a must to implement the configuration for storage

Hi RamGopal,

I have completed the setup but i am not able to gain access even after following the prompt wizard. see below outcome.

Hi Moh,

Yes, Storage is required - it handles all storage communication and must be configured.

If you only have one NIC, that’s fine - you can trunk all VLANs on the same interface. Just assign a VLAN ID and CIDR for the storage network using a range from your environment. Pick any unused VLAN ID and a private subnet that doesn’t overlap with your management network (192.168.9.0/24).

The Start IP, End IP, and Gateway will auto-calculate from the CIDR you enter.

Make sure your switch port is configured as a trunk port so it can carry both your management and storage VLANs.

Hi Moh,

Good news - the setup completed successfully! To access the dashboard, you need to point your browser machine’s DNS to the Karios server.

On your Mac, go to System Settings > Network > your connection > DNS, and add the Karios server IP (192.168.9.158) as the primary DNS server. Then open https://karios.karios.remoscop.com in your browser.

One important thing: Karios has a built-in DNS and DHCP server. Make sure there is no other DNS or DHCP server running on the same network segment - having two DHCP servers on the same subnet will cause IP conflicts. If your router or another server is currently serving DNS/DHCP on that subnet, disable it for the VLAN(s) that Karios manages.

Hi have pointed it my DNS to karios but i cant gain access yet. see screenshot.

Hi Moh,

DNS config looks good. Could you try https://192.168.9.158 directly? If that loads, the issue is just DNS resolution — a quick ipconfig /flushdns should fix it.

Also, the secondary DNS (4.2.2.2) may be intercepting some queries before they reach Karios. Removing it temporarily would help isolate that.

Hi i have tried using the server ip:https://192.168.9.158 directly but it still not working.

I did flush the DNS: ipconfig /flushdns BUT still not working.

Also, the secondary DNS (4.2.2.2) has been removed and still yet not working.

HI Moh, sorry about the confusion here
The current server that you provisioned will act as DNS/dhcp for Karios.
so based on the above screenshots , your DNS needs to be 192.168.9.158 and you have to hit this url https://karios.karios.teneceocp.com and if you are on windows Please use this example to set host address KB Parallels: Adding an entry to the Microsoft Windows hosts file

Hi,

I am still experiencing the same issues with the Kairos deployment on a bare‑metal server and would appreciate your support.

Currently, I have a Dell bare‑metal server running Windows Server 2022 with a domain controller configured using a local domain name (tenece1.local). The server has been spun up successfully, and the Kairos deployment process has been completed. However, the major challenge I am facing is accessing the Kairos UI after deployment.

I would appreciate your guidance on how to properly resolve this issue, starting from the deployment process through to successful access of the Kairos UI.

Thank you in advance for your support

The attached image is showing the outcome after deployment but accessing the ui is the major issue. mind you the domain on the screenshot is the one i created initially but as for now i have created a different domain as mentioned from my last comment that the domain name is now tenece1.local  :

Hi Moh, could you please share your availability so we can schedule a call and go over this together?

Hi @RamGopal Thanks for the swift response. Could we schedule this for Tuesday, 28th April 2026, at 10:00 AM WAT

Sure, Will send you an invite

Thanks

You are welcome.

Dear Ramgopal,

I would really appreciate it if we could reschedule our meeting to Friday, 1st May 2026.

A couple of urgent project deployments have come up between Tuesday and Wednesday, and on Thursday I also have a client presentation on Karios‑HCI. Due to these commitments, it will be difficult for me to attend the meeting as originally planned.

Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience this may cause and kindly let me know if 1st May 2026 (this coming Friday, same time ) works for you.
